Preconception Goodies Giveaway
I planned on doing a giveaway on November 1st, but I’ve decided to have the giveaway a few days early.
Some of you out there may be trying to conceive and I thought I would give away a copy of Preconception Plain & Simple by Audrey Couto McClelland and Sharon K. Couto from Pinks & Blues! This book is a deliciously smart and sexy guide in preparing for pregnancy! I have my own copy which I haven’t read yet since Greg and I aren’t purposely trying anymore. Things are kinda at a standstill with my body (due to depo provera) and other things so I’m kinda “blah” right now. Whatever happens, happens. Eventually I’ll start reading and I’m sure the guide will help me out a lot.
I’ve also decided to give away a $25 Kangaroodle gift certificate for a head start on shopping for the new baby! At Kangaroodle you’ll have a ball shopping for fun, functional, and fabulous babygear. Try not to order the whole store!

Rules - Rules 1 & 2 are optional since there are so many giveaways going on, but it is appreciated if they are followed.
1. Write a post about this contest, linking back to the contest, Kangaroodle, and Pinks & Blues.
2. Mention BOTH prizes. I had an issue last contest with people only mentioning ONE of the prizes. If you fail to mention both, you’ll only be able to win the prize that you mentioned. Fair is fair.
3. Leave a comment preferably mentioning your favorite thing about the fall season.
4. A winner will be chosen November 4th!

Simba’s Progress
Edit 7:40pm: Simba’s home! He’s bathing right now, he smells bad! I don’t know why they didn’t clean him up after the procedure. It was recommended that he stayed until tomorrow since he didn’t pee yet, but I thought maybe he would go at home in his own litterbox. If he doesn’t go by tomorrow morning, we’ll have to take him back. He’s now on Hill’s Prescription Diet. It smells good, I mixed some in with his old food to get him used to it. That’s all for now.
Simba’s still in the hospital, they are waiting on him to pee on his own. If he goes by 6:30pm we can pick him up at 7pm at the latest today. We don’t know the balance yet because some things still may need to be done. If he doesn’t pee then an extra day will be tacked on.
Updates:
- There was blood in his urine, which is common.
- He won’t eat. I wouldn’t eat either if I had been under such trauma. Also he’s used to a certain type of food which is probably not being served at the vet.
Some things that I didn’t mention because my head was hurting and my stomach was growling while writing the previous entry about Simba:
- I knew what was going on with him. I watch him frequently because this is so common in male cats.
- His bladder had swelled up to the size of a baseball.
Hopefully the vet doesn’t recommend an expensive prescription food. I had already planned on switching him to Nutro brand. Caesar eats that brand. Since Simba has gotten sick, I’ll be switching foods a little sooner. The remaining 9lives (what my mother was feeding him) food that we have left over I’m just going to give to the neighborhood cats. I was going to through it away, waste not want not.
Thanks for the comments concerning Simba. Hopefully he’ll be home tonight.

My Kitty’s Sick :-(
Last night Simba struggled to use the litterbox. He even howled and growled as nothing passed. I noticed only a few sprinkles of urine in his box so this was a sign that he had a blockage. All night and early this morning he licked his “area”. I told myself to call a vet when I woke up today. That’s what I did. I called around for price quotes emergency and non-emergency. This was an emergency and Simba couldn’t wait until Monday to be treated. I agreed to see a vet and be assessed the emergency fee. Greg left work to take us over to the vet. It took forever. We are just getting back. 1 emergency turned into 4 in a matter of 30 minutes, so the doctor had to go room to room to room to room. I do think she could have cut some of the chit chat. Come on we’re dealing with an emergency here why are you walking back in forth through the hall talking and laughing? Simba was in so much pain, it was like he was having contractions. The whole time was spent watching Simba growl and howl in pain. He was not a happy kitty at all. Long story short, he’s being treated until Monday, he’s going to have a catheter in until tomorrow. Deposit of $200, remaining balance $195 or $345 depending on any extras that need to be done. Him and Caesar both still need to get their shots in November
. They are our children…and at this rate will be the only children that we have.

Queen Helene’s Cocoa Butter Lotion
I decided to write about random thoughts that come to my mind. Queen Helene’s Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion is currently on my mind. This particular lotion I’ve used on and off. My mother and I used to be frequent dollar store shoppers and we’d buy this lotion. One 32 fl oz bottle would last soooo long. As the years progressed we stopped going to the dollar store, the household budget increased, we started getting Vaseline brand lotion. I got used to Vaseline and other non generic brands so when I moved out I continued buying the more expensive lotions.
NOW.
Greg goes through lotion very quickly. He has to put lotion on every crevice of his body. He already has loooong legs, so do I, but he has more leg to go around, lol. We find ourselves buying a bottle of Suave, St. Ive’s, or whatever brand is cheaper each week or so. Greg’s used to using Jergen’s but we cannot afford Jergen’s the way he goes through it! You realize how hard you have it when your parents are not buying for you anymore.
We picked up a 32 fl oz bottle of Queen Helene’s Cocoa Butter Hand and Body Lotion from Walmart a few days ago and are in love. I’m so glad that I noticed it. Sometimes the cheap stuff blends in and it gets overlooked. I have been reacquainted with my “dollar store” lotion and it’s perfect. Not too thin and not too thick. It smell delicious, it does the job. We got googobs of lotion for a little over $2. We love you Queen Helene.

Excuse My Absence
Please excuse my absence around here. I’m still working hard on my store and this time I mean business. I had gotten so discouraged with it because I kept running into problems that could easily be fixed, brain farts, etc. I find that if I just stop doing something and come back to it later I’m able to get around the problems.
I think that fall is here to stay finally. It’s cold and rainy, the house is freezing. We had to turn the heat on again. We are not looking forward to our energy bill. Sure wish we had a fireplace. We may get a space heater, I know how dangerous those things are but I don’t leave them on unattended. My mother bought one for me to use in her basement when I came home from school to visit. I’d let it blow a while, in plain sight, then I would turn it off and unplug it when I was done. My mother freaked out when I told her that we may get one because when I was an infant my mother and I were burned out (severe smoke damage) of our townhouse due to our next door neighbor leaving her space heater on unattended. My mother had took our neighbor to the doctor to get some birth control pills, when we returned our building was on fire.
I have a phobia of large fires so I am very cautious when it comes to handling fire or electric items that may start fires. So if we get a space heater, I’m going to be on it like a hawk.

If you would like to give a gift to baby Jayden, we are registered at Target. All gifts are greatly appreciated!
