Gold Medal Wine Club Review
My mother has gotten into wine the last 3 years or so. I cannot stand wine, I think it is an acquired taste. When I had the chance to taste test some wines from the Gold Medal Wine Club, I instantly thought of my mother. She would be my guinea pig because had I tasted the stuff, I’d instantly say it was nasty, lol. It took my mother a while to unwrap the wines. They were packaged so nicely that she didn’t want to touch them. I had my mother taste the bottle of Merlot first. She really didn’t like it. She said it was kind of oily, something that my uncle would enjoy. She did however mix half of the Merlot with Beringer White Zinfandel and it tasted fine after the mix. Next she tried the Chardonnay which was fine, she mixed it with Beringer White Zinfandel because she’s used to mixing, but the Chardonnay was fine all by itself.
The wine came with a newsletter which featured facts, recipes, and news about the wine industry, something I’m sure all wine enthusiasts would enjoy. I found the Food For Thought recipe column interesting. I’m always seeing chefs on tv tossing wine in their creations and I’m curious to know what it is about wine that gives certain dishes that *OMPH*.

Is it sad to say that my mother got me into enjoying wine? She used to take me and my sister to wine festival when we were younger, but never letting us taste it. I was interested in it though. We just enjoyed the music, food and fun. But, I love wine. I get to giggly after drinking it though.
I’ve never even had wine before. I’ve had the iniative to drink anything at all. I don’t even drink alcoholic beverages.
I only drink homemade wine, and only around Christmastime. ‘Tis the Season!
Uhm.. I think wine would be the perfect gift for my father this Christmas.. Perhaps i’ll get one.. Thanks for the post!
don,
I just love these wine clubs, they’re excellent gifts! I just wish someone would give one to ME!
Thanks for sharing this one.
I’m just now starting to understand and enjoy wine. After being to many wine festivals and learning the art of choosing one that is best for me and learning how to properly drink it I have come to love it on occasion. But like Brittany, after just one glass I get all sorts of giggly.
I grew up drinking wine, often just mimosas, because my family is very Italian, that’s just what we do. I can understand why it might be an acquired taste, but honestly, I love it. I drink it usually while cooking or watching a good movie, but I always drink it when I’m eating Italian. If you ever do acquire the taste, you’ll be amazed at what drinking a glass of white can do to a simple chicken alfredo.
