LiceMD, Pesticide Free
I would like to take time to share some facts about head lice and a new product that makes getting rid of them much easier. Some may be thinking omgawd she’s African American, why is she talking about lice? Well, anyone can get head lice. It is a misconception that African American children don’t get head lice. African American children are much less likely to get head lice than Caucasian or Hispanic children because of difference in hair texture and hair products used. Head lice have a much harder time latching on to curly strands and they have a hard time surviving certain moisturizers commonly used by African Americans. Head lice are becoming stronger and more resistant to less hospitable living conditions. So for this reason all children in high risk areas should be checked.
* There are between 6 and 12 million cases of head lice each year.
* Head lice are the second most common condition among children – second only to the common cold.
* About 80 percent of schools across the country have at least one outbreak of head lice per year.
* Pre-school and elementary aged children (those aged 3 to 12) are most commonly infested, girls more frequently than boys.
* Lice infestation is not due to poor hygiene. In fact, lice prefer to live on clean heads. Head lice spread easily by direct contact.
* Head lice can be spread whenever there is direct contact between the head or hair with an infested individual.
* Lice can also be spread through the sharing of personal articles like hats, towels, brushes, helmets, hair ties, etc.
* There is also a possibility of spreading head lice via a pillow, headrest or similar items.
* Humans cannot get head lice from pets.
LiceMD has developed a pesticide and chemical free, hypoallergenic formula that helps eliminate lice in just three easy steps. It is odorless, can be reapplied as needed, and super conditions the hair to prevent from pulling it out when removing lice with the provided comb. Removing lice just got easier.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion
I believe that along with your teeth, your hands also make a statement about yourself. Having soft, clean, and well groomed hands shows that you have good hygiene. When you show that you have good hygiene, people are more likely to take you seriously.
My hands are constantly in motion. I cook with my hands, clean with my hands, and everything in between. I also compulsively wash them. All of which leaves my hands dry. Who finds dry hands attractive, especially on a woman? This is why I’m forever slathering skin care products of all kinds on my hands after they come in contact with water.
Last month I received a sample bottle of Skin MD Natural Shielding lotion to try on my skin. Guess what part of my body I used it?
Now, this lotion is intended to treat severe dry skin conditions such as Eczema, Psoriasis, and Thyroid problems. Thankfully I don’t having any of these conditions, but I appreciate a product that I can still benefit from. Skin MD Natural is a thin lotion that rubs on slippery and immediately dries leaving the skin feeling hydrated. I love how easy the lotion rubs in and dries without leaving a greasy residue. When I use this lotion I don’t have to worry about my hands losing grip of the things that I grab or try to open. This lotion sits on my desk and goes in my purse when I leave the house. Greg hasn’t gotten his paws on this lotion* and I intend on keeping it all to myself! Bwahaha!
* he’s always dipping into my personal stash of lotion or carmex when he runs out of his own

A Pretzel and Cracker in One?
Attention all pretzel and cracker lovers, the little elves over at Keebler (a Kellogg company) have created Town House FlipSideS! Town House FlipSideS pretzel crackers are part pretzel on the front and part cracker on the back, combining the yummy flavors of two delicious snacks! The Town House FlipSideS are available in Original and Cheddar flavors. The flavor refers to the cracker only and not the pretzel. I received a complimentary box of the cheddar FlipSideS. I gobbled up half of the box within a day, the other half I saved so that I could dip them in spinach dip and tuna. Dipping and topping options are endless with FlipSideS. Just chose your favorite or eat them plain, they are such an enjoyable snack and won’t get you in trouble in the calorie department!

101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes *drool*
I’ve been cooking since I was 10 years of age. I’ve learned most of my cooking techniques from my mother. Baking is something that I’ve always wanted to get into but my mother wasn’t much of a baker, still isn’t. I had to dabble in baking on my own. Now that we have a little one on the way I want to be able to prepare sweet treats for our family. I’ve already mastered turnovers and some cakes. Turnovers and cakes are something that I would make on special occasions and not all of the time, so I thought baking cookies would be more suitable. Freshly baked cookies are a favorite in many households, so I thought it would be smart for me to start collecting cookie recipes.
Lucinda and Heather Wallace, mother and daughter, also the authors of 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes sent me a copy of their cookbook to review. I am in LOVE. 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes is a compilation of simple cookie recipes that taste and look like they would require an experienced chef to make! Imagine showing up at an event with delicious cookies that took you all of 20 minutes to mix and bake! Below is a picture of the Chewy Chocolatey Oatmeal Cookies that I baked last week. I ended up with extra dough so I decided to make the rest tonight. I absolutely love these cookies, they are a pregnant lady’s dream, lol!
I’m probably going to try Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chippers next. I may throw in some Reese’s pieces for an extra touch. It feels good not having to buy my cookies from Kroger’s bakery because I can now make my own!
I leave you guys with a freebie from the book to indulge in! I’m sure you’ll want to pick up 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes after reading, the book is totally worth it!
Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cups butter or margarine, softened
1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
1 ¼ cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup white chips
1 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat eggs and vanilla extract into butter mixture. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chips, and nuts. Drop by level ¼-cupfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until light golden brown. Allow cookies to cool for 2 minutes on baking sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Naked Naturals Hair Care
Wearing my hair natural and wanting to grow it out as long as possible, I’m always on the lookout for all natural products to use in my hair. I don’t consider myself a product junkie, but if the product has what I’m looking for and the price is right I’ll give it a try. When looking for shampoos and conditioners I look for all natural ingredients. Since my hair is thick and coils into tight ringlets, I look for a shampoo and conditioner that will heavily moisturize my hair leaving it feeling soft. If I dye my hair, I make sure to use a shampoo and conditioner with the most benefits.
Last week I dyed my hair mahogany. I told myself that I wouldn’t dye my hair unless it was with henna. The henna didn’t show much so I used a permanent. Before anyone asks for pictures… it isn’t really noticeable so I’ll wait until I dye it again sometime late next week. A few days after dying my hair, I received a sample of naked naturals awapuhi and lavender natural shampoo and conditioner which is for color treated hair. Talk about being right on time, I had just dyed my hair and it was due to be washed! Naked Naturals contains a plant protein, Keravis, which is 7 times stronger in their shampoos than the animal protein D-Panthenol which is found in leading brands of shampoos. Keravis in Naked Naturals’ conditioners are 3 times stronger than leading conditioners containing D-Panthenol. Naked Natural’s overall is a great product with maximum benefits, a reasonable price (a little goes a long way), and can be found in local drug stores. I look forward to trying their aloe and chamomile products to help stimulate my hair growth.
