Holiday Gift Ideas + Giveaway
By now most of us have already started our holiday shopping or are gathering ideas for gifts. Need some gift ideas? I’ve added some little icons above to items that make great gifts. In addition, here are some more ideas for gifts.
The Tee Pee from Kangaroodle. Isn’t it cute? It comes in many different fabrics for boys and girls. This makes a great gift for toddlers on up to tweens. I also think it makes a great gift for pets as well, I know Simba and Caesar would love one!
For Mom, the chic and spacious Anne Marie Synergy Diaper Bag from Kangaroodle. I’d like to have one of these as a purse.

Not a gift but something you will still be able to give to your loved ones, custom Photo Holiday Cards. These cards are sure to bring tears to the eyes of your family members!

To make holiday shopping a tad easier, I’m going to give away another $25 gift certificate courtesy of Kangaroodle. This may be the last gift certificate that I may be giving away in a while so get in while the getting’s good!

Lucy’s Doghouse Has A New Look
Lucy’s Doghouse has been redesigned. I love the new look. Some changes include the website being aligned to the center, rounded graphic borders, and css styled navigation which is totally in right now. Colors are used efficiently, the entire store is easy to navigate, which ensures a positive shopping experience.
Lucy’s Doghouse is one of my favorite stores to shop for Caesar because they provide dog toys that can withstand his chewing. Remember the Hurley and Orbee Golf Ball? They are still with us going strong!
If you have or know a dog that cannot keep a toy for more than a day to save his/her life, I recommend lucysdoghouse.net. Since the holidays are right around the corner, can I suggest taking a look at the holiday dog collars? I found some pretty chic holiday and non-holiday designs that are sure to add some whimsy to your pooch’s wardrobe! Use coupon code: rescue to have 15% of your purchase sent to a sponsored rescue.

Achin for Some Bacon
I had been looking around for a microwave bacon cooker for some time now and I’ve found a few, but they weren’t completely enclosed. An unenclosed bacon cooker calls for a messy microwave. Luckily I was able to try out a new invention, the CrispyClean® Bacon Broiler.
I have to say that when I took it out of the box, I was so confused. Yes it came with instructions but me being me, if I can’t figure out how to use something without the instructions then I get frustrated. I couldn’t figure out how to open the broiler until I read that I have to unsnap the keys. The first two times I tried out the broiler, I followed the instructions, then I got addicted to eating bacon and started stuffing the bacon into the broiler without taking the vanes out and placing them on to a plate like suggested. That said, you don’t have to follow the instructions word for word.
For this review I used pork bacon, I was on a roll buying turkey bacon. Since I wanted to do the review without having to go to another store, I selected pork because Walmart was lacking in the turkey department.
I think that the CrispyClean® Bacon Broiler is a great invention, but with many products there’s room for improvement. I think that the broiler should be shortened some as I had to maneuver it into my microwave since it is pretty tall. The plastic cup should probably be a tad more thick. Is softens up a little while hot. The amount of time that you cook the bacon varies, I know that each microwave and piece of bacon is different. It took almost 6 minutes to cook 6 slices when the recommend time was 30-45 seconds per strip.
I will continue using my CrispyClean® Bacon Broiler because it really does come in handy. I can pop some bacon in the microwave and continue doing whatever I’m doing. No more standing over the stove flipping bacon. No more getting popped by bacon grease. No more going through paper towels to either dry off the bacon after the stove flipping or when microwaving the bacon on a plate instead.
An idea that I think may come in handy…
- For those on the go, place bacon in broiler and refrigerate overnight. Toss it in the microwave as you get ready for work or bring the broiler with you.
And because Greg and I love this part of the Lion King…

Yogi Pet Toilet By Powda Designs
Two months ago we purchased a Yogi Pet Toilet for Caesar. Caesar is trained to go on pads and the pads that we currently have are non-stick. The ones with the adhesive aren’t the best either because they are hard to peel off of the floor. So here’s our problem with the pads in general, Caesar steps all on the pads after he’s used them, at least Simba knows well enough to walk around them - but that’s those cat instincts kicking in. Caesar and Simba also like to play a lot and they are constantly darting past the pads, Caesar runs right across them of course. If they have adhesive on them, they stay put on the floor. But who cares about the pads staying put or not it’s the fact that it’s unsanitary to walk in your own urine and then trail it around on your paws. This is why we bought Caesar the Yogi Pet Toilet.
You can see that I place a pad under the upper plate. The smell from the pad attracts him to go to the toilet. Some newspaper and scented spray may do the same trick if you can’t get your dog to use the toilet unless it is scented. Now I mentioned that we bought this toilet 2 months ago. He has JUST started to use it the day before yesterday! Just when I was going to call it quits! Caesar is unpredictable, so we had the toilet and a pad out just in case. He’d always go to the pad and ignore the toilet WHICH has a pad under it. Well the day before he decided he was going to go number 1 & 2 on the toilet and leave the pad in the dust. He was rewarded with a chicken wing. Yesterday we took away the pad and he went on the kitchen floor. Today we put the pad back down for him and he went number 1 & 2 on the toilet. He was rewarded with half of a left over burger. It seems like if he doesn’t have a choice between both the pad and the toilet he won’t go to the toilet and will go on the floor, but if the pad is there he’ll ignore it and go to the toilet. We are still working with him and trying to tap into his mind!
I haven’t found any stores that sell the Yogi Pet Toilet other than Ebay stores, the toilets are an imported product so they are hard to get. If you want to purchase a Yogi Pet Toilet on Ebay, just search for “pet dog toilet”.

Biotene Sensitive Toothpaste
A few months back, my 2 top wisdom teeth grew in. During the process, the teeth splitting my gums caused a horrible ache where I could hardly open my mouth to EAT. It was hard to brush my teeth too. I tried Orajel but that stuff is just icky. It gets in every place but where you want it, like your throat. Luckily it was only a few days of this torture. After figuring out that I could just massage my gums away from the teeth, the pains subsided. In this situation I count myself as lucky. Things could have been much worse. The teeth could have grown in crooked or they could have rotted, but they didn’t and I brush the heck out of those things each time that I brush my teeth because I don’t want any mishaps or doctor bills that I cannot handle.
I am always trying new toothpastes to see which one suits my teeth. At times I’ll use 2 at once, one for cavity and tartar protection, one for whitening. I had the chance to try Biotene sensitive toothpaste and it is a competitor of Sensodyne. I hate Sensodyne, it makes me gag, so trying Biotene had me a bit on edge. The flavor is much better than Sensodyne, it actually reminds me of the stuff that dentists use. I’m not sure if I can stomach the taste on an everyday basis, maybe a few times a week. Biotene Sensitive has even more advantages over Sensodyne, it prevents canker sores and cavities, and defends against bacteria, plaque, gigivitis, and dry mouth. Now there’s a sensitive toothpaste that does it all except whiten. My only suggestion to Biotene Sensitive is to play with the flavor a bit and add some whitening agent to the mix!
Biotene Sensitive can be found at Walgreens, Long’s, Rite-Aid, CVS, and a handful of other top retailers. If these stores aren’t in your area you can have your pharmacist order some for you.

If you would like to give a gift to baby Jayden, we are registered at Target. All gifts are greatly appreciated!
