A Week Already?
Time sure does fly! It’s been a week already. Well, Saturday was the baby shower. It was a SUCCESS! We racked up. It was like a super Christmas! We just got home at 9pm (Wednesday) and we’re trying to get the house in order. Now that the pets are with my mother, we can do some spring cleaning and get organized to prepare for Jayden’s arrival and then after that, moving hopefully before August. We left all big gifts behind (crib, high chair, etc) because we won’t need them between May - August. I’m working on getting the baby shower pictures uploaded, we have videos too. Being gone for a week, we’re backed up on a lot and we’re trying to do things one at a time. I’m in such a hurry to get back on track because I’ve been feeling really tired lately, I don’t want it to get so that things don’t get done. Greg can’t do EVERYTHING. It’s so hard getting out of the bed, I feel so heavy. Once I’m out, I’m alright though. If you emailed me, I’m not ignoring you. I just have a few hundred emails to sift through. Which reminds me, I need to unsubscribe to some newsletters, I don’t have the time to read half of them.
I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment, but it’s not a bad overwhelment. Once we move this summer and get all settled, I’m pretty sure that Sophistishe.Org won’t be AS neglected, lol.

Late Night Foolery

Our reaction to The many faces of my 3 year old. on tanyetta.com, lol! As you can see we were having a hard time with the
Tomorrow we’re going to head back home (our parent’s) for our baby shower which is Saturday! Greg had to work today which hindered us from going today. It was 68 degrees today and I loved it. Of course I had to open windows! I’m in the mood to shop for plants and flowers now! I can’t wait until we move this summer because I don’t have much motivation to do home improvement projects when I know that we’re moving. I’m actually ready to start packing, lol.
Up in Chicago it’s supposed to be like 35 degrees on Saturday, boooo.
Just thought I would update before my blog rots! I will take lots of pictures and promptly upload them to flickr!

An Update On Life
You guys may have noticed that I’ve been keeping life on the “low” lately with the exception of pregnancy updates on Mommy Daddy Blog.
Well, we’re taking things one day at a time and I’ve been busy catching up with business related things. We’re looking for another place to live and we’re just waiting for things to fall into place one by one. You know when you are in the middle of “sealing deals”, you don’t want to go blabbing about them until they fall through.
The baby shower is approaching! It’s March 15th. We’ll be heading up to Chicago for that on the 12th. My mother has invited a bunch of her friends from back in the day. I’ve invited a bunch of friends from back in my day, lol, and there will be lots of family from both sides attending. Eveything’s all sorted out and I know that the baby shower will be lots of fun. I swear it’s going to be like Thanksgiving, all of the food that my mother is preparing and having prepared, then Greg’s mother still wants to do a bajillion more things. This will not be your ordinary baby shower!
I do have a bone to pick with certain people who we invited through the facebook events application, the people who just say they are coming for the hell of it, the ones who rsvp’d on facebook but are quiet through all the messages that we send the entire group. Then there are the ones that let us send them a paper invitation (Those do COST you know!) in addition to rsvping on facebook, now when asked if they are coming they’re like “ummm when is it?”. ALL OF THAT INFORMATION IS ON THE DARN BABY SHOWER EVENT, YOU SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN YOUR INVITATION, HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHEN THE BABY SHOWER IS!???!!!?? If they come, they will be sitting on the floor and that’s that! Gosh I forgot the age group we’re dealing with…thank goodness WE have some common sense.

101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes *drool*
I’ve been cooking since I was 10 years of age. I’ve learned most of my cooking techniques from my mother. Baking is something that I’ve always wanted to get into but my mother wasn’t much of a baker, still isn’t. I had to dabble in baking on my own. Now that we have a little one on the way I want to be able to prepare sweet treats for our family. I’ve already mastered turnovers and some cakes. Turnovers and cakes are something that I would make on special occasions and not all of the time, so I thought baking cookies would be more suitable. Freshly baked cookies are a favorite in many households, so I thought it would be smart for me to start collecting cookie recipes.
Lucinda and Heather Wallace, mother and daughter, also the authors of 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes sent me a copy of their cookbook to review. I am in LOVE. 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes is a compilation of simple cookie recipes that taste and look like they would require an experienced chef to make! Imagine showing up at an event with delicious cookies that took you all of 20 minutes to mix and bake! Below is a picture of the Chewy Chocolatey Oatmeal Cookies that I baked last week. I ended up with extra dough so I decided to make the rest tonight. I absolutely love these cookies, they are a pregnant lady’s dream, lol!
I’m probably going to try Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chippers next. I may throw in some Reese’s pieces for an extra touch. It feels good not having to buy my cookies from Kroger’s bakery because I can now make my own!
I leave you guys with a freebie from the book to indulge in! I’m sure you’ll want to pick up 101 Easy Peasy Cookie Recipes after reading, the book is totally worth it!
Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cups butter or margarine, softened
1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
1 ¼ cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup white chips
1 cup chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat eggs and vanilla extract into butter mixture. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chips, and nuts. Drop by level ¼-cupfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until light golden brown. Allow cookies to cool for 2 minutes on baking sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Constantly Cleaning….
Greg: *spills parmesan cheese on the kitchen table* Oops.
Me: *wipes up with a dish towel*
Greg: Thank you for cleaning up after your messy hubby.
Greg then proceeds to sit his wet can of pop on top of the refrigerator.
Greg’s can of pop: *slides off refrigerator, falls on to floor and starts fizzing all over the kitchen*
Me: *grrrr*
Note: I don’t say “soda” nor do I say “sofa”.
